Welcome to "Sharing"
Submitted by Stephen Cataldo on Thu, 07/05/2007 - 19:48.My name is Stephen Cataldo, I'm officially the moderator for the Sharing discussions. It's a very open topic, generally dedicated to finding simple and do-it-ourselves solutions.
There is likely to be some overlap with efforts to bring people closer to each other: Eco Villages and Co-Housing and broader Ecological City Design, as well as Shared cars and carpools.

I am looking for story ideas about green architecture as well as transportation issues i.e. bullet train, hydrogen cars etc. I am also interested in the greening of the IT industry, with particular focus on data centers and networking equipment. I am open to talking to anyone about anything really with emphasis on new or unknown ideas and projects tied some way to Northern California. I will be at the event April 25th and 26th. I am very open to sharing accommodations, rides etc.

you heard of Dario Busch? Dario Busch 's custom super
homes are “Greener Than Green”! EnergyStar and LEED

Built” house Dario Busch had his crews build in
Missouri (And I think Dario Busch had his crew build
another custom super home in Kansas) that is built
with over 60 TONS of recycled materials (Ask Dario
Busch for details on the custom super homes)! Dario

Thinking about solutions, manifesting them in this life time
Hi, my name is Liz. I am super excited to be attending the ecocity world summit in San Francisco in April. I joined this community to connect and find other people who are going to the conference who would like to join me in exploring the city, going to the conference together, exchanging ideas and visions, etc.

plant dyes, textiles, and your thoughts about clothing - our Second Skin!
I work in a somewhat nebulous area bounded by fashion, art and theatre; using mostly redeployed textiles coloured with ecologically sustainable plant based dyes.I'm fortunate to live on a rural property where I have the luxury of being able to plant a tree for each garment or textile object that I produce. This means the forest grows by up to seventy trees each year - as I only make things to satisfy demand and so as to have 'enough' to live on ; and like to spend time on each piece. My book 'Eco-colour - a botanical alchemy of plant dyes' will be published in March next year.
Welcome!

Welcome
Submitted by lpatzek on Thu, 07/05/2007 - 18:36.Welcome to the Ecocity World Summit forum on Renewable Energy.
We wish herein to explore the truths of renewable energy, stripped as much as possible of political and other biases. What is meant by renewable? Does such a thing as renewable energy exist? On what spatial and time scales? What are the impacts of said renewable energies on human culture, economics, ecology, etc? How do our lifestyles determine our energy wants and needs?

Submitted by lpatzek on Thu, 07/05/2007 - 18:14.Upon completion of my studies in molecular biology and physics, I studied protein pathways in Alzheimer's Disease. My true passion lies in the study of chemical and biological cycles, and their interconnectedness. This led to a research position at UC Berkeley, where I studied the various impacts (ecological, social etc.) monoculture oil palm plantations have and will have on the tropics, specifically Southeast Asia. I am currently writing a book on biofuels for the layperson with my father, Prof. Tad Patzek.
