Hello and Seeking Members Interested in Global Energy Assessment

Hi all,

Great to know there is such an active forum in India to articulate its energy future and sustainable living initiatives. Incidentally, I returned back to India earlier this year following a long innings at CERA. My interest area is on World Energy Assessment and how the results hold pertinence for India. Please connect with me directly if any one in the group's membership shares the same interest.

Clean Technology, Renewable Energy, and Sustainability as Sound Engines for Economic Growth

BANGALORE, November 14, 2008 -- Don't wait for a bailout. There is none. This deepening understanding is bringing together leading green energy experts, heads of state, top government officials, heads of large international organisations, policy makers, sustainability experts, environmentalists and global investors at Green Energy Summit 2009 (GES 2009), March 4-7, 2009 to be held at the Palace Grounds, Bangalore, India.

Welcome

Welcome to the Ecocity World Summit forum on Renewable Energy.

We wish herein to explore the truths of renewable energy, stripped as much as possible of political and other biases. What is meant by renewable? Does such a thing as renewable energy exist? On what spatial and time scales? What are the impacts of said renewable energies on human culture, economics, ecology, etc? How do our lifestyles determine our energy wants and needs?

Managing Director, Green Century Institute

Upon completion of my studies in molecular biology and physics, I studied protein pathways in Alzheimer's Disease. My true passion lies in the study of chemical and biological cycles, and their interconnectedness. This led to a research position at UC Berkeley, where I studied the various impacts (ecological, social etc.) monoculture oil palm plantations have and will have on the tropics, specifically Southeast Asia. I am currently writing a book on biofuels for the layperson with my father, Prof. Tad Patzek.
