Welcome & Instructions

This site will help you quickly make connections with your colleagues heading to the Ecocity World Summit. The first step is to create an account. Then, you can choose any or all of these three ways to connect:

  1. The Green Travel Networking system helps you meet people and make the journey to our conference become part of the conference. Sharing the journey helps “green” the conference by saving energy. For example, you can carpool with others, or you take public transit with someone who might need assistance finding their way. And sharing a hotel room saves space, and money!
  2. The same matching tool includes a Conference Ambassador Match, where people new to the Ecocity World Summit can get an introduction from a long time attendee of past International Ecocity Conferences. Additionally, local Ambassadors can introduce international delegates to the Bay Area and help make their visit to San Francisco more enjoyable.
  3. Last, the Conference Discussion Forum gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself, participate, and discuss the ideas you care about.

Ride, Room and Flight Match

The Green Travel Networking system helps you meet people and make the journey to our conference become part of the conference. The site is similar to a carpool and a hotel and homestay roommate bulletin board or classifieds, but makes your search easier by sorting everyone's answers for you. It's easier to use than explain: you just fill out a page describing your travel plans and needs (the same as if you were filling in a paper form), hit a button, and a list of people the computer thinks might be good matches is returned. You email them, or they email you, and you make your own plans.

We're hoping that everyone will use the Green Travel Networking site to find a neighbor you haven't yet met, and come to our gathering together.

Conference Ambassador Match

The Ambassador Match is a great way to make new connections. If you've been attending previous International Ecocity Conferences, or similar international conferences, now it's your turn to be a contributor. Connect with a first time attendee, and help show them the ropes. Find someone who shares your interests, perhaps a neighbor, and make stronger connections.

Conference Discussion Forum

The Discussion Forum is a place for ideas and conversations. The first step is to go to the introduce yourself page. Let people know who you are, your particular interests, what you can share or teach, and what questions or projects you'd like help with. Do this as early as you can, so other people can begin connecting. As the conference gets closer, visit again to see other participants' introductions and start sharing, and some speakers will be describing their programs and asking for questions. Want other people to contact you? Click my account and look under Contact settings. Also at my account you can adjust your Subscriptions to get notices when people post about topics that interest you. During and after the conference, continue the discussions. There are places to network, to ask questions and answer other people's questions.
