This site will help you quickly make connections with your colleagues heading to the Idea Factory. The first step is to create an account, you can choose any or all of these three ways to connect:
- The Travel Networking system helps you meet people and make the journey to our conference become part of the conference.
- The same matching tool includes a Conference Mentor Match, where people new to the Idea Factory can get an introduction from a long time attendee.
- Last, the Discussion Forum gives you the opportunity to introduce yourself, participate, and discuss the ideas you care about.
You can just get started, or read a more detailed introduction here:
- The Travel Networking site is based on a carpool rideboard, but lets you do much more: if you are flying, fly with someone or share a taxi at the airport; driving, share the ride; on a budget, find a hotel roommate. We're hoping that everyone will use the Travel Networking site to find a neighbor you haven't yet met, and come to the Idea Factory together. It's easier to use than explain: you just fill out a page describing your travel plans and needs (the same as if you were filling in a paper form), hit a button, and a list of people the computer thinks might be good matches is returned. You email them, or they email you, and you make your own plans. Meet your neighbors!
- The Mentor Match is a great way to make new connections. If you've been an attendee at the Idea Factory for years, now it's your turn to be a contributor. Connect with a first time attendee, and help show them the ropes. Find someone who shares your interests, perhaps a neighbor, and make stronger connections at the Idea Factory.
- The Discussion Forum is a place for ideas and conversations. The first step is to go to the introduce yourself page. Let people know who you are, your particular interests, what you can share or teach, and what questions or projects you'd like help with. Do this as early as you can, so other people can begin connecting. As the conference gets closer, visit again to see other participants' introductions and start sharing, and some speakers will be describing their programs and asking for questions. Want other people to contact you? Click my account and look under Contact settings. During and after the conference, continue the discussions. There are places to network, to ask questions and answer other people's questions.
