Washington DC

Three airports are convenient to reach the Metrorail on public transporation. Here is information from Metro.

Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

* 5A Bus or the Washington Flyer Coach Service (for $9 at the time of this writing) will get you to the Metro system. Discussion by other flyers.

Reagan National Airport (DCA)

* Already on the Metrorail Blue Line.

Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI)

* MARC, or more expensively AMTRAK, will take you to Union Station. MARC is a very convenient solution when it is running; it is a commuter rail line that at this time does not run on weekends, see MARC Schedule

* Take Metrobus express route B30 from Greenbelt station to BWI Airport.

Airlines advice, espec from West Coast

Chatting about our experiences flying in the SpaceShare office, here are our staff & intern favorites & sample cheapest prices when we checked for SFO-DC on Sept 5-21 (not necessarily the cheapest days to fly):

ata.com (Air Tran) has 10% discount for Camp Democracy attendees (you might also find their flights on other websites.) SpaceShare signed up for discounts with Air Tran because last time I attended a DC conference, they were the best choice, and so SpaceShare approached them about offering discounts to conferences we work with.

southwest.com goes to BWI.

SouthWest, JetBlue and Airtran are both good choices for cheap one-way tickets. Southwest isn't on the general flight searches.

kayak.com, cheaptickets.com and travelocity all were finding the same flights, (very general) at about $245 total

Are there any discount airlines not on Kayak and cheaptickets that we should know about?
