Greening Healthcare Workspace

discussion space and web tools for those greening the health care industry

[from discussions with Health Care Without Harm]

* Web resources for HCWH and perhaps H2E: I've skimmed the web looking for environmental and reduced-harm hospital websites forums and places for people to contribute online, without finding any. Have you thought about adding a place for user contributions? You could add forums with the same themes as your advanced search... there are probably lots of small organizations like SpaceShare, or individuals, who would start appearing if you (or you and a few allies) created an online home for them. In line with what I just said about our funding model, if you want us to create a simple forum within our website for you and allies to use, I could create a subsection on SpaceShare's community forum for greening hospitals, if you were going to use it enough to make it worthwhile, for nonmonetary fair-exchange of you helping get the word out about our work.

greening hospital transportation

[from discussions with Health Care Without Harm]

If you come across a hospital trying to reduce pollution or avoid building more parking, we would very much like to work with them. I think that we should work with them one at a time, starting with the hospitals most interested in being green or having the most difficult travel and parking problems, and designing custom programs (both the technology and the ways to encourage use). Budget is an issue here, and we would need to find funding sources. Some hospitals might be willing to pay directly: reducing even a few parking spaces would often pay for a system.

greening health care conferences

[from discussions with Health Care Without Harm]

We would also very much appreciate if you could encourage medical
conferencesto be green, and we would be happy to help provide resources,
both our own workand connections to other green event planning resources.
If you areinvolved with green event planning for medical conferences, we
would also behappy to mention your work with conferences as we talk to them.

We're always looking for industry-specific partners. HCWH could make greener conferences a budget-less project simply by telling other conference organizers about our work and other greening guides. We'd be happy to be on the look-out for information for you, if I know what you're looking for (such as biodiesel busses, or to hire someone who is a specialist in green event planning, or an organic caterer.)
