Creating physical rideboard

=> the dream-components of our physical-rideboard are:

1. reasonably lightweight for transporting up
2. green construction
3. safe -- doesn't blow over in the wind and smack people in the head (we had one of those at Harmony a couple years ago...)
4. We leave before festivals are over. We've got a bit of a paradox: can't take home the rideboard before the last people have found their rides, can't leave it after we go...either:
1. take off the messages and leave them, returning with the expensive & artistic parts of the rideboard

Redesign SpSh Home 2009 Overview

STOP
Please...

  • No more working on design aspects for designs that don't meet the goals. Read old notes carefully before diving in.
  • No More using images that we're not going to really want on the site in the end.
  • No more just showing up with new designs. Help narrow work that has already been done, or explain why you are going to make changes, and see if people agree with your ideas before spending time designing.

Whole Earth in Davis, May 9-11

May 9-11, 2009, in Davis, CA.

Overall: One of our easiest juice sponsorships, very friendly crowd but not usually tons of booth traffic. The more volunteers the better since it's free. We can budget some for expenses. This event starts *very* slow on Friday. It would be good to have the booth in place, but this is the one festival where we don't need to be quite so worried about Friday set-up.

Leads: Alie (and Aaron), next to Seva, we hope.
Vehicle[s]: Alie and Aaron
Total tickets: unlimited

Request housing for volunteers -- are you local?:

Harmony Plan

Volunteer at Harmony.

June 12-14, 2009, in Santa Rosa.
4 tickets.
Overall: expect very busy festival (typically this is the highest juice sampling of the year) with juice sponsorship. We're near the front gate, so we need to be at our best near opening. It's a camping event. Tickets are expensive when camping and night events are added, if you'd like to volunteer pls. volunteer early so we can get enough tix.

Leads: Galit and Arthur (and possibly Alie)
Vehicle[s]:
Total tickets: 4 (we have a budget to buy more espec if earlybird for serious volunteers, speak up soon.)

Festival Outreach Fall 2008 Campaign

Goal is to contact 1000 festivals that are candidates for next year.

-------------------

x - Purchase database of festivals.
[Stephen?] - Integrate that data with our database

-------------------

- Prep an email and have it link to a web page that gets improved

Web page notes:

------
Jeff's editing notes (nov 08):

- cut out the first sub-title
- minor changes to the second paragraph, hoping its a bit easier to understand
- changed to green background in floating text box

Creating our Greening Guide

Help SpaceShare create a guide to planning and traveling to events as green as possible, gathering and sharing information from other experts when possible and create our own information as necessary, then get it to many thousands of people to help them be greener travelers/planners.

  1. Recreate spaceshare.com/green, our rough draft of a greening guide

Do It Yourself Carbon Offsets

When I first heard of carbon offsets, I loved the idea: a very committed, thoughtful person used them to reduce her guilt about the impacts she couldn't change. Since then they've been drifting into the old paradigms that got us into this mess, "Carbon Indulgences" letting us sin. Even at their best, they work like this: a windmill farm creates some electricity. They sell the electricity to someone who says, yeah! I'm using wind power!

Graphics to Inspire Earth-Consciousness

Help us improve and share the skit (currently) at http://greeneventsguide.org/skit.html
(grab it at: http://greeneventsguide.org/skit_basic.txt )

This project's first version is approaching completion. Brainstorms and sketches below are OUT OF DATE.

Preparing for Festival Re-Localization and Neighbor Match Presentation

These are the very earliest notes on a presentation for the Whole Earth Festival, hopefully to be repeated at other festivals, helping "relocalize" the large events by getting people to connect with neighbors interested in the same types of solutionism.

Looking for someone to work with Stephen to re-create this presentation and help give it!

Section 1: Introduce SpaceShare, how we green festivals, and this low-tech version of it.

Section 2: Lots of volunteers needed, get everyone to move into a map of Davis, Bay Area, and beyond.

Section 3A: Neighhborhood improvements.
