Search SpaceShare's Tasklist
We need to research various solar panels that could fit on the top of the canopy and power a laptop and lighting. Also, find the lighting, and perhaps a flashlight that is powered by shaking. We'll both use and refer/sell various solar & alternative powered options. Need to find the suppliers (not just retailers) of these solar panels.
We're collecting ideas on how to run a green housecleaning business, hoping to help new people start green businesses and existing housecleaning operations switch. (A volunteer or intern is needed to coordiante this process.)
We have found two sets of companies that do green housekeeping. One in San Fran, so San Fran is covered. WAGES in the East Bay is not interested right now. We need a plan to find green housekeeping businesses, or help inspire existing businesses to switch, and partner with us.
SpaceShare is forming a Board, to help us grow to the next stage. We're looking for people with a variety of skills and passions to help guide SpaceShare as we grow. Public policy experts, business and accounting advisors, urban planning, Socially Responsible Investing experts. A more detailed announcement will be made soon, but if you'd like to be part from the beginning, contact us now.
What we're looking for:
- Looking for a standard mix of experts bringing skills, resources and contacts.
- Community & Initiative: A team that will generate a sense of community, interact with each other, helping SpaceShare move beyond being a project founded by one person, as new ideas are generated they can be discussed by more than just the founder.
Someone should create a spreadsheet of all the Tribes etc that we want to be announcing things on:
Here are the places to search, add to the list:
Tribe,
Craigslist,
Zaadz
Yahoo Groups,
Googlegroups (the old USENET newsgroups)
Lonely Planet
www.urth.tv
Maybe Friendster or LinkedIn?
MySpace
Google Blog search (http://blogsearch.google.com)
Technorati (http://www.technorati.com/)
Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com/)
IceRocket (http://www.icerocket.com/)

Let's create, perhaps with allies, a petition that people can sign saying that they'd like to go to green festivals.
Start brainstorming:
* Each signer is encouraged to mail it to one festival or concert or performer.
* Signers pledge to look for green festivals. SpaceShare's upcoming link is the first link on the list, perhaps Green Mary too, or others if they help.
* The www.spaceshare.com/green has similar forms, but tell-a-friend petition campaigns tend to do better.
* How do we spread the petition? Could be a bumpersticker, or a portapotty flyer at the green festivals where we set up carpool sites... A flyer in the porta-potty is the best place to get people to read things at festivals, we could describe the project, have a URL on a bumpersticker and say "Free bumpersticker if you clean this Porta-Potty (or after 5pm Sunday)" or some other attention grabber...We want to research water filters for the Little Green Expo. Which is the greenest & most socially responsible company, providing the best water filter for the price? If one of the top-runners is interested, we'll sell their filter. (I'm especially revved-up to do this because my house just bought a Pur filter that, on reading the box, only claims to reduce the cholorine taste and pretty much nothing else.
Volunteer needed: check consumer reports, ask at a couple coops (food coops, cooperative houses) to see if anyone has already researched this, check on enviro blogs --> creating a map of how to find out this kind of info would be useful for the next project. Check multi-pure (which is different from Pur)
This is a research line not really started yet, but someone could check out the options, ideally to integrate a timecard system into this community site.
I saw this on the web:

SpaceShare search page
David and Stephen are re-working the search page. We'd like both people with an eye for UI and design, but especially new people as testers, to help advise.
Here are the stage-I plans: take a careful look at www.spaceshare.com/solfesthopland ( a site in use - close your account between sessions, and write "testing" as the description.) and www.spaceshare.com/ocf and www.spaceshare.com/solar2006 , create ads on each, look at the search page, and let's figure out how to improve it! My vision is to make each post more like a block than a row, without blank spaces. I'd like it if it works fine as is, but perhaps javascript would let people change the search prioirities --> and it's especially important that people be able to change the rank of a post.
Help us create a helpful and thriving venture around the
green / environmental weddings website at http://www.green-weddings.orgA great little task for a new volunteer, because it involves learning about SpaceShare: pick a title for each untitled newsletter.
Details: Write a spreadsheet that compares the index number of each newsletter to an appropriate title and a few notes, as in:

BiweeklyCreate a list of the possible on-line shopping+donation services, and compare them. For each one:
* General description: Are they green or general consumer? What is their product line like? (We may have more than one partner, one with all kinds of products, one with green products only, and perhaps a couple of specialty stores, like Barnes and Nobles so we can sell books.)
* Can donations be made to a non-501-c3 (we're not registered as a 501c3)
* Google them on a blog search engine, and see if anyone has written about them. Take quick notes, including the URL of the blog so I can see it.Let's create a directory of the "Peak Sharing" movement... all the new places where sharing is happening. (Great early-intern or volunteer project... 8 hours total of interesting google research would be great.)
* Has anyone beat us to this?
Quick start (we'll add descriptions and categorize):
All the rideshare sites:
a- event
b- place to place
c- commute (or someone else's index of these?)
All the carshare (flexcar, city car share) sites
Couchsurf and similar homestay sites

Some intro to the open source movementCollecting information about Carbon Calculators:
Likely:
- Drive Neutral, yearly car trips calculator: https://www.driveneutral.org/calculator/friends?=spaceshare
- Nice broad tool at Carbon Neutral: http://www.carbonneutral.com///calculators/index_shop_calculator.asp?referredby=spaceshare
- Inconvenient Truth, vague: http://www.climatecrisis.net/takeaction/carboncalculator/
* We're begining to work with Drive Neutral https://www.driveneutral.org/friends?=spaceshare who are working on a conference carbon calculator that will do the whole thing. From them, I can get the rest of the details soon, but the online calculator isn't launched yet. I can probably put this on our website in another month or so, maybe sooner. I can get you their estimates for how to calculate your conference's impact by hand (somewhat complex to really determine what should be counted), as well as for travelers. I'm talking with them - if you tell me more specifically what you're looking for, I can try to make it happen.
* Get boilerplate for an affiliate contract between SpaceShare and Drive Neutral.
