Search Page on our site - how to display?

SpaceShare search page

David and Stephen are re-working the search page. We'd like both people with an eye for UI and design, but especially new people as testers, to help advise.

Here are the stage-I plans: take a careful look at www.spaceshare.com/solfesthopland ( a site in use - close your account between sessions, and write "testing" as the description.) and www.spaceshare.com/ocf and www.spaceshare.com/solar2006 , create ads on each, look at the search page, and let's figure out how to improve it! My vision is to make each post more like a block than a row, without blank spaces. I'd like it if it works fine as is, but perhaps javascript would let people change the search prioirities --> and it's especially important that people be able to change the rank of a post. (Re. search prioirities, I envision each result having scores like this zip_code:+5 to_event:-2 from_event:+4. So right now this is sorting as a +7, but if the person is struggling to find something closer, they would click a button to multiply the zip_code column by x5; if they're having troubles finding someone leaving at the right time, they would multiply that value to prominence, and the screen would show a differenct order. Re. interest levels, we want to have both an as-it-happens re-sorting of the results, and also a message sent to the server (without rewriting the page). )

Re: Search Page on our site - how to display?

A search engine results page (SERP), is the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword query. The results normally include a list of web pages with titles, a link to the page, and a short description showing where the keywords have matched content within the page. A SERP may refer to a single page of links returned, itil practice exams, or to the set of all links returned for a search query.
Some search engines cache SERPs for frequent searches and display the cached SERP instead of a live SERP to increase the performance of the search engine. The search engine updates the SERPs periodically to account for new pages, and possibly to modify the rankings of pages in the SERP.

SERP refreshing can take several days or weeks which can occasionally cause results to be inaccurate or out of date, and new sites and pages to be completely absent.
