short term
Short Internships in Social Media
Basics: SpaceShare orchestrates ride-, room- and taxi- sharing for festivals and conferences. We help people replace cars and resource-use with their community. We aim well beyond the normal green events, spreading the green message not by talking about it but by helping people enact it and benefit from greening, making new friends and stronger communities in the process.
Old notes on green guides
We now recommend this Green Events Guide. The following sections are old notes (that a volunteer could one day clean up and make sure that they are all on the new site, then delete.)
translation with html
Submitted by admin on Mon, 2007-08-06 05:26.How do I replace a standard phrase, like "Input format" with a new phrase including a logo/html? I tried the translator, but it treats html as text.
Nevermind -- function l( in common ruins the html. It can be reset to allow html, but not with the translator. I'm stuck rewriting the forum.module
bump up to new access level
Submitted by admin on Wed, 2007-06-27 06:09.I want users to be able to bump themselves up to a higher access level (volunteer), as simple as clicking a button that says "Make me a volunteer". After that, blocks and menus and whatever can deal with them differently. Probably a simple php database call?
Subscriptions help
Submitted by admin on Wed, 2007-06-27 05:59.Find a way to create a subscriptions hot-list, listing core subscriptions instead of the overwhelming quantity of choices that the full subscriptions page provides? We want to guide people to guide people to certain choices. It would be good to have the option for single-box options as well: the front page might ask you to confirm or deny that you want to be subscribed to the main Volunteer newsletter, for example.
Green Traveler Library
Submitted by admin on Wed, 2007-06-27 05:49.Integrate Green Traveler Library (lonely in the Forum, probably to be removed), spaceshare.com/green (not part of Drupal yet), and the green travel user-contributed tips.
share all the sharing websites - group research project
Submitted by stephen on Sun, 2006-12-17 01:54.Let's create a directory of the "Peak Sharing" movement... all the new places where sharing is happening. (Great early-intern or volunteer project... 8 hours total of interesting google research would be great.)
* Has anyone beat us to this?
Quick start (we'll add descriptions and categorize):
All the rideshare sites:
a- event
b- place to place
c- commute (or someone else's index of these?)
All the carshare (flexcar, city car share) sites
Couchsurf and similar homestay sites
Freecycle
Non-internet or articles to be written:
Burning Man's Gift Economy
Some intro to the open source movement
Online shopping with donations
Submitted by stephen on Sat, 2006-12-16 02:02.Create a list of the possible on-line shopping+donation services, and compare them. For each one:
* General description: Are they green or general consumer? What is their product line like? (We may have more than one partner, one with all kinds of products, one with green products only, and perhaps a couple of specialty stores, like Barnes and Nobles so we can sell books.)
* Can donations be made to a non-501-c3 (we're not registered as a 501c3)
* Google them on a blog search engine, and see if anyone has written about them. Take quick notes, including the URL of the blog so I can see it.
give titles to old newsletters
Submitted by stephen on Thu, 2006-08-03 00:58.A great little task for a new volunteer, because it involves learning about SpaceShare: pick a title for each untitled newsletter.
Details: Write a spreadsheet that compares the index number of each newsletter to an appropriate title and a few notes, as in:
8|Dec 2005 Year in Review|Looking back at 2005, Buy Nothing Day, ....
Stephen can easily integrate your file into our website.
