Overview of Outreach & Building Process, Defining Terms
Some of our words are getting used to mean more than one thing. I'm
going to sketch out some vocab choices (I may habitually call things
wrong names but I'll try to get it right, ask if you have questions.)
It would be helpful to have your input on these things - I asked for
ideas on how to separate the tagging process but didn't hear any
suggestions back, so I'm picking the words -> please give me more
feedback.
The Cast: SpaceShare, the Client (or Event Organizers), their Attendees
Phase I: Research and Tagging (OUTREACH)
* research or rsch
* tagging or figuring out what to do with the research: now composed
of two steps, (both of which sometimes involve writing a "tag" and
then acting on that "tag":
1. data-check
2. step-choice (or next-step-choice) of figuring out what to
put in the ToDo box
Phase II: Contact (or Client Contact) (sometimes called outreach from
SpaceShare to Client)(Stacie's job) (OUTREACH)
Phase III: BUILDING
* Building. Stephen builds the site. Carissa may at some point be
doing some prep work to speed this up.
* Announcements. (May also have been refered to as "outreach",
meaning the Client does outreach to their Attendees. This is a
key challenge, getting the Organizers/Client to get their
Attendees to try the system means we have to teach them.
o There is often a teaching guide intended for the Client at
www.spaceshare.com/theirevent/announce.cgi but it is too
long and Clients never read it. So, we often send very
specific suggestions. (If you are doing this work, you can
look at the client's site and goals and needs, read
announce.cgi, and take a creative shot at implement
announce.cgi on their site.)(announce.cgi is
slightly-customized but only slightly for each event.)
Phase IV (stephen is doing all this for now): OPERATION & FOLLOW-UP
* Attendeeds: Reminders & Tech-Support & Final Letter/Survey
* Client Check-Ins and Follow-Ups and Closure
