NAMING Documents and Revisions
Here's how we name documents (or, use Google Docs):
document_name.v2_3_sc.rtf
(main version 2, update 3, edited by Stephen Cataldo, rich text format. "document_name" is a good length, try to be clear. Longer names may get mangled as we switch apple<->windows)
document_name_v2_3b_ab.rtf (a minor or branching revision)
document_name_v2_4_sc.rtf
document_name_v2_5_rtf (initials removed may mean it has been "approved" and may be sent, though I'm not sure how strictly this will wind up followed.)
document_name_v2_5_b_klingon_sc.rtf (a branch of this document intended for Klingons)
* Since many people may proofread a document at once, there may be overlapping or confused version numbers from time to time. Someone should be in charge of each document, and make sure to put a higher number after they integrate everyone's suggestions.
